Each dot is a partial sum S_n, not a single term. The steps shrink by the factor 1/2 each time, so the dots never pass the dashed height 2 yet get arbitrarily close to it: the geometric series converges to 1/(1 − 1/2) = 2. After 12 terms the remaining gap is only 0.
